A DRUNKEN STUPOR (don't read this while eating)

We all have stories of the college party gone too far. You know the one that started off just having a good time with a few drinks and then it got out of hand. Yeah, the one where the next thing you know we are throwing up in the back seat of our best friends car. Of course, there is that one time when we did make it to the toilet and our best friend stood there holding back our hair while we puked our guts out.(because my hair always gets in the way) But my favorite is when we are too drunk to even get up and move and we just sit there and throw up on ourselves.

If any of you know me very well, you know that those things have never happened to me. However, I did realize this morning that I have walked around in my own vomit. I was reading Isaiah this morning and found this, "The LORD has mingled a perverse spirit in her midst; and they have caused Egypt to err in all her work, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit." Is. 19:14 The bible draws this gross picture of what it looks like when we trust our own wisdom and worship idols. Ultimately we end up looking like drunken fools. A nation, a church, a family or an individual can look like a drunken fool when they reject God's counsel and do things there own way.

So my goal today is to not look like THAT guy. THAT guy who stinks and ruins the party for everybody else. I want to enjoy His creation today but not worship His creation. I want to be a blessing to those around me not a stench. My desire is to trust His wisdom and worship Him today.
